I had originally planned to publish a piece on Sunday titled “Social media is cracking us all” and I must confess, it was quite the alarmist screed. How do I know? Because I started it off by saying: “This is not alarmist.”
Be honest: what is more terrifying? The thought that, in the end, all of it blows up, or, the thought that it all works out?
Have you ever had a secret? Maybe it started off as a truth that then became something to hide that then morphed into a lie and over minutes, hours, days, years, a lifetime, morphed into its current state of just being “a secret?”
We are where we are.
We are all going to die.
In the immediacy of this last election in these here United States, I was struck with this question: what is Trump doing to our intimate relationships?
It is only now in the light of the cratered backdrop of my personal life that I have become open to the idea that I grew up underneath tyrants.
